Sweat and fat

-You think, I know when i tell you..Sweat is fat ... END OF STORY !!

The above dialogue is real. No matter where and with whom you are talking to. What we need to keep in mind as important factor, is that the ignorance and lack of education are the worst enemy of the truth even in matters concerning the exercise.

Obviously our friend, who also has a strong opinion, is fan of the motto: ''SWEAT IS FAT CRYING'' but he has never tasted his sweat. It is a colorless liquid with distinct odor, unbearable sometimes due to the bacteria leaving the body through sweat and that remain on the skin. Apparently its odor is not from "burning" fat.

It is the most diluted liquid of the body. Through sweat, the excess body organic substances are rejected, this way detoxifying the body. Sweat is composed of 99% water, 1% non organic salts, fat acids (not fat) etc

Note that people can sweat from excessive heat and also when they are exercising intensively. When we exercise our muscles produce more energy than normal. Part of this energy is used for movement. The rest is heat. In these cases the body overheats and sweating is part of the process of cooling down the body.

Note that humans can sweat through intensive work, anxiety or fear. Is this, according to the above expert also "fat"?

The quantity of sweat that each person rejects is connected with the ability of the body to keep its normal temperature, for this reason it is not a factor of the amount of calories consumed and for sure it is not a factor for burning fat.

If you weight yourself after exercising and sweating, for sure you will weigh less. Not because you burnt fat but because you have lost 1-2 liters of water, which you must replace immediately.

To force our body to burn fat for energy production, we just use more energy than the one we are eating. This calorie reduction can be achieved through a balanced diet, exercising or both.

A general rule for sweating during exercising is to make sure we are drinking water before we feel thirsty, before we start dehydrating. For this exact reason we must also drink water based on the rhythm with which we sweat.

Dehydration causes, apart from reduced power during exercising, reduced energy consumption which is the target of every exercising and also other serious health issues. For this reason, the theories "i don’t drink water during exercising to sweat more" are based on ignorance, reckless and dangerous, especially in Cyprus weather conditions during the summer months.
